Future of Insider Financial Fraud: #FutInsiderFraud

Date: 29th May 2013

Abstract

Security Lancaster in conjunction with Cyber Sentinel are hosting a one day workshop to explore the future of insider fraud for the finance sector. The financial sector is now operating in an rapidly evolving global environment and being radically changed by the adoption of new technologies and work practices into the industry. Along with the advantages present in this environment there are also significant challenges in policing it.

The workshop will be held at the Work Foundation in London between 9:00am and 4:30pm on the 29th May 2013. Including all materials, catering and a copy of the research findings and recommendations paper, the workshop is priced at £295 no VAT payable.

Background

There have been a number of high profile cases where insiders, employees of the financial institution, have been able to circumvent procedural and technological controls which have led to significant losses to their institution. This workshop sets out to investigate the current trends and the futures they may create in order to have an informed debate on the issues that insider fraud poses in these futures and how we might start to mitigate them now before it becomes too late.

The workshop will deliver a series of lectures, with the speakers detailing cutting edge research and the background in a range of fields from technology to criminology in order to provide a multi-disciplinary lens through which we can explore what might be achievable by fraudsters in a future environment. The workshop will also provide an opportunity to then work with the speakers to develop scenarios and possible mitigation strategies that can be put into place now to prevent disasters in a financial industry dominated by high levels of interconnectivity, rapidly evolving technology and face paced decision making.

After the workshop has finished attendees will have access to sessions recorded on the day for the presentations along with a white paper discussing the findings from the workshop. These will be made available exclusively to the attendees of the workshop for a period of 6 months after publication.
